Health Department Participates in Image Gently Campaign to Increase Radiation Safety Awareness About CT Imaging of Children
The State Department of Health (DOH) is issuing informational pamphlets and child medical imaging cards as part of a campaign to raise awareness about radiation safety issues associated with computed tomography (CT) imaging of children. The materials are being provided to 16,000 pediatricians and physicians statewide, who will distribute them to patients and parents.

State Awards Nearly $50 Million to 17 Hospitals To Improve Efficiency, Lower Costs
New York State is awarding $49.9 million in grants to 17 hospitals in the state that have incurred operating losses as a result of changes in the payment system for Medicaid, the Federal-State health insurance program for low-income adults and children.

New York's hospitals continue to make significant progress in reducing infections patients may acquire in hospitals, according to the third annual report on Hospital-Acquired Infections issued today by the New York State Department of Health (DOH).

City of Albany Wins New York State Drinking Water Taste Contest
The State Department of Health (DOH) today announced that the City of Albany earned the top prize in the 2010 New York State Drinking Water Taste Test. The Village of St. Johnsville in Montgomery County was the runner up.
Governor Paterson Names Advisory Committee to Help Health Care Reform Cabinet
Governor David A. Paterson today named 37 organizations to the Health Care Reform Advisory Committee, which will provide input to the Governor's Health Care Reform Cabinet on the implementation of federal health care reform in New York State. The Advisory Committee includes organizations representing health care providers, consumers, businesses, organized labor, local governments, health plans and health insurers, and health policy experts.
